March Newsletter from BVI Yacht Charters

Hello,

Getting tired of the cold and snow? It is nice sunny weather here in the BVI's, with a pleasant 82 -86 degrees and a gentle breeze for fantastic sailing. Can you imagine drifting in the warm seas with a painkiller in your hand? It's only a plane flight away.... We have a nice 8 nights for the price of 7 offer for June this year and in July you can even charter 10 nights for the price of 7. Reasons enough to take that flight.....

We have 2 new Helia 44 catamarans in our fleet and we also have great news about White Bay, Jost van Dyke, the Willy T and Necker Island!

As always, email [email protected] with any questions or inquiries. Enjoy,

Abbie & Cassie

BVIYC DOGS TO USA

Last year we wrote a blog about our BVIYC dogs Blackie and his new “girlfriend” Sophie. In November, 2 more dogs entered the pack and found shelter, food and cuddles on our docks. We named them Ben and Rascal. Last but not least, Big Ed arrived with short little stumpy legs, a big head (which gave his name) and a massive heart. Within days he made himself at home and everybody adored him so much, that Big Ed got adopted by one of our charter guests. He is now safely in Florida and seems to be enjoying his new-found life.

After a long search for new homes for the other 4 dogs, we shipped all dogs to Florida on the 27th of February, where they have a much bigger chance to find a loving owner.

NECKER ISLAND NATURE TOUR

Have you ever heard of Necker Island? It’s the Island retreat of Billionaire, Sir Richard Branson. It is located North of the Gorda Sound and is surrounded by coral reef, turquoise waters and white beaches. Necker Island is a luxurious resort, but also has a long-standing reputation for working with conservation groups and organizations to preserve and protect the marine areas of the Caribbean. While the resort will reopen in October, you can already visit the island in a nature tour which we can highly recommend!

Across the region, including Necker Island, work is in progress to recover and repair/ rebuild and until October this tour will be focused on supporting the animals on Necker Island and rebuilding the local tour guide Gumption’s boat business and his home.

“Sea It Clear” offers Gumption’s Wildlife Nature Tour (opens in a new tab), in which you will see a stunning array of wildlife on Necker Island. In this 2 hours tour you will get an exclusive Island pass, to see the Rock iguanas, the giant Galapagos tortoises, flamingos, lemurs, scarlet Ibis, cockatoos, parrots & much more for a very reasonable price.

NEW WILLY T COMING THIS MONTH

(opens in a new tab)

The William Thornton (Willy-T) Floating Bar & Restaurant, which is known for its lure of adventure-seekers, is expected to be back in operation this month. (picture is of old Willy T)

The Bar & Restaurant, which usually operates on the south-west corner of The Bight off Norman Island was ‘an absolute right off’ following last year’s hurricanes. The new Willy T will be the same kind of ship, but a bit larger and it will be anchored in the same location in the Bight.

The Willy T is one of the top ten attractions in the BVI and fans of the restaurant/bar are eagerly awaiting its return.

The remains of the old Willy T are still on the beach and will be removed and sold for scraps soon
