SEA TURTLES IN THE BVI

The marine environment of the BVI is an underwater paradise for diving and snorkeling on its varied and beautiful reefs. It is very likely you will encounter a turtle on your charter while sailing, snorkeling or diving.

While sailing our beautiful waters, spotting a sea turtle can be a thrilling sight. Always have a look out for a dark spot in the water and then a distinctive head poking out of the water like a periscope. You also might be able to find a sea turtle at one of our many Snorkel and Dive spots. You can swim with them, but please do not touch! The most common turtles to be found here in the BVI are the Hawksbill at around 150 pounds and the bigger green turtle at about 300 pounds.

WONKY DOG RESTAURANT

Anegada is a beautiful destination in the BVI to sail to on your charter and most people visit Anegada to explore the beautiful white beaches, snorkel on the outer reef, maybe see the flamingo’s but definitely also to eat the famous Anegada Lobster. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from, but in this blog, we want to introduce one of the newer restaurants on the island: The Wonky Dog (opens in a new tab) bar & restaurant on the water’s edge at Setting Point, Anegada.

The Wonky Dog is not the typical Anegada restaurant because its chef-owner Peter is actually an honest-to-goodness trained chef. On the menu you can find several varieties of lobster dishes like the Wonky Dog Lobster with seared Foie Grass, Lobster Thermidore, Lobster Rockefeller, Jerk Mango Coconut Lobster, Lobster Toulouse Pasta or just Grilled Anegada Lobster or Surf & Turf.

BVIYC GIRLS ATTEND 5K RUN FOR A CAUSE

On Saturday morning June 17th, the streets in Road Town, Tortola turned pink and colourful for the BVI’s Color Me Pink 5k Run/Walk. The run is a fundraiser event to promote breast cancer awareness and  generating over $15,000 towards free mammograms for women in the territory. Our BVI Yacht Charters girls Kirstie and Els were there to support the cause. Prior to the run, participants were sprayed with water and bombs of coloured powder were thrown to the crowd so that everyone could get truly pink and colourful. Special designed T-shirts and tutu’s were also part of the fun outfit.
